About Us

The African Cancer Institute, founded in 2014, is a strategic initiative by Stellenbosch University (SU) aimed at consolidating its cancer and cancer-related research activities with a view to developing a critical mass of scientists, clinicians, postgraduate students, and fellows to mobilise the cancer research agenda for South Africa (SA) and the sub-Saharan African (SSA) region at large. The Institute aims to be a leader in the field, ensuring that cancer research activities are focused, innovative, relevant and create a huge value add, thus enabling a platform for policy-driven outcomes.
